For the past couple of years, whilst driving across the highway and especially when traffic is heavy, I listened attentively to the popular up to date Israeli pop songs playing on the radio.
During one traffic jam, I sank into a daydream and imagined scenes of destruction; remnants of cars and ruined buildings on the sides of the road. Advertising signs showing the shreds of a smile promised something that will never be realized.
Some of the songs that were sampled were huge hits and other were hits for a moment, all of them together essentially create a contemporary Israeli soundtrack. Beneath the layers of sound production and effects, hides an alternative reality that was revealed to me in hallucinations throughout the journeys in the city.
